I thought June would feel like summer.

In my head, June was all popsicles and bike rides, reading through sunglasses on the back deck, and lazy afternoons at the pool. I imagined this so hard that the color palette I chose for my June Artist’s Deck cards reflected this whimsical warmth of my dreams. Here, see?—

And it’s true that June “felt” like summer. It was so hot we nearly melted. But mid-month things took a turn and all of those June fantasies faded into the distance like a disappearing mirage. The popsicles, the reading, the sitting poolside—none of it materialized. All of it, a vapor.
