On Seasons And Time Not Being Our Own
(And a schedule change for the Art of Prayer Online Workshop)
This morning I sat with my mastermind group and named some things that were rattling around in my heart in regards to the nature of time, and this particular season of parenting three teenagers, navigating college visits and applications, teaching, sorting out health stuff, ministry changes, and life. They kindly listened and offered encouragement, and nodded knowingly, because many of them are right there too.
Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now.
-George Harrison
One of the challenges I shared was the fact that right now, this particular parenting season requires a measure of flexibility that is different from when my kids were all younger and could be slung over one arm, and carried to and fro without their say. For those that don’t know, the schedules of today’s teens change moment by moment and so we dance a sort of merengue to the rhythm of the day or hour as needed. Every day feels like a new dance to new music with all new chorepgraphy. We learn it all along the way.
There are things I love deeply about this season, and there are aspects of it that exhaust me to the bone. Every day is different (read: fun, exciting, new, joyous, hilarious!) and every day is different (read: challenging, difficult, exhausting, frustrating!).
This weekend I’d planned to host my first paid subscriber Art of Prayer workshop on Saturday afternoon, but though I’ve tried to finagle my weekend to accommodate my best-laid plans, I am going to have to reschedule that workshop for Sunday, November 12 at 4PM.
If you’d planned to participate, mark your calendar. And if this weekend wasn’t going to work for you, but now this new date fits into your schedule, make a plan to join us! This will be a low-key, simple hour of creatively practicing God’s presence together.
*As a reminder, this workshop is FREE to paid subscribers as a bonus for your generous support. ((Thank you!!)
I appreciate your grace as I navigate the rhythms of my family, and trust that God will work out the details as I continue to surrender to that which is beyond my control.
If you’re on the FREE list for Stories Along The Way, you can still participate in the workshop, simply click the button below to join us.
