No skimming here- but also so much subconscious resistance(?) to creative work. I long to write, or paint, or make something but try to begin and it goes no where.

Loved seeing your words in my inbox today❤️

I hear you. The resistance is real…praying for a breakthrough moment where the dam breaks and the creative tidal wave crashes through. The world could use more of your art in it. Xxoo

I don’t know if this helps, but I regularly subscribe and unsubscribe and resubscribe from my list of reads. I really can only handle about 10-12 reads a day and if it gets out of hand, I rotate in and out, usually depending on what’s going on in my life and what I need more of in that period (creative inspo? Spirituality? Fiction help? Levity? Culture?).

I also don’t have any kind of notification enabled to tell me when or who someone unsubscribes from Sayable, so I usually assume others don’t either. It helps to know that some do though and they’re seeing my choice to absent myself. At the end of it all though, I have to make the best choice for my mental health. I should consider shooting a note over to friends when I unsub for a time (I almost always come back to the ones I love though :)).

Love you, Kris. Keep doing good work. I love when you show up :)

You can find who unsubscribes in your settings. You can toggle the switch on or off. When I turned mine on I was horrified to find a note by someone who had a mix up with his credit card and my paid subscription though he canceled both back in Dec. I felt terrible I missed his note which also talked about his being ill.

Thanks, Lore. I don’t know why that notification setting was turned on, I’m sure I missed it in my settings. I normally keep it turned off. And I should have said more on my post, because I too have had to unsubscribe from friend’s work from time to time, and rarely is it “personal”. Just recently I had to scale back some of my own paid subscriptions here on Substack. Those decisions were purely financial, and so I get that too.

Thanks for stopping by to read and offer a kind word. It is always a joy to see your name pop up here. Love you, friend. And praying for that gorgeous novel you’re writing. I cannot wait….😊🙏🏼

Dear Kris, so much of this resonates with me. I have spent the better part of 2 days trying to figure out how to hit that unsubscribe little box on the 65 plus Substacks I subscribe to without also crafting an email that says, "hey friend here's why I unsubscribed to your Substack".

Part of me feels like I owe people an explanation, but there's just so much noise out there.

This creative work has ebbed and flowed in the last year, and I think as we get closer to God's purpose for our lives, what's most important keeps bubbling up to the surface... and that "important" is not online.

Here's to staying nimble friend... I'm so grateful for your work whenever you show up. Sending love.

Thank you for this. I hear you on how painful those unsubscribes are and loss of friendships. It can be heartbreaking and as you say an opportunity to bless those who have left.

Thanks for reading today, Katie. I hope you are well and enjoying this spring season…there is much goodness yet, despite the unsubscribes and the world news. May you be encouraged to keep writing and sharing.

Thank you. So far it’s mostly cold. Oh yes on there being much goodness. You are one of those good walking with the Lord people.

Thank you for sharing. The heart of this one is something I need reminding of sometimes - life isn't always able to be, and can't always be, lived at 100mph.
